Fetish, Provocation, Petrochemical plastic container manufacturing, Sex, and the Text
HDPE (High-density polyethylene) is the current performance manifestation of a performance project that is continually developing. Born initially of an interest in marginalised, misunderstood and taboo forms of sexuality and love, the work has developed in a way that also takes in an ever evolving exploration of form.
Concerned with the aesthetics and choreography of minimalism, intimacy and of presentation, and the fetishisation of text and amplification; the piece uses found text as a springboard for generating micro-dramas and a concentrated exploration of the potential of the presence of the performer to generate meaning. It finds beauty, poetry and provocation in the language and terminology of petrochemical manufacturing, distribution and commerce.
